We've been photographing the Father Dance Daughter for 5 years now, and this year was Ainsley and Chad's first year to attend together! She was super excited, so we made it a special day for her with a hair appointment, 'getting ready' pictures, and dinner before the dance. The Hollywood theme was so fun this year, and the girls always have a wonderful time!

We were honored to celebrate and experience the traditions of Shelby's Quinceañera with her family and friends! The decorations were beautifully made, and Shelby and her friends were gorgeously dressed. Thanks again and happy 15th, Shelby!
We helped the Corrigans announce their pregnancy back in December, and we were thrilled when Ryan and Misti asked us to document their next big announcement - the gender reveal! We did a "practice run" in the studio, and then the big reveal took place at their baby shower.
Ryan and Misti's gender reveal/baby shower was Harry Potter themed, from the invitations to the decorations and games, and everything in between. They put so much work into every detail, and everyone had a great time.
Congrats again, Ryan & Misti! We're looking forward to your upcoming maternity session!

Trivia Question: Ryan & Misti's shower incorporated many elements from the Harry Potter series, but much of their inspiration came from one book in particular. In which Harry Potter book were we introduced to the Marauder's Map, the phrase "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good", and Honeyduke's?

Now that spring is (slowly) on its way, we're kicking off the season by hosting an Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Mini sessions on Saturday April 19th! This April also marks the beginning of our FIFTH year in business, so we wanted to do something to show our appreciation for our customers, past and future.
The Easter Egg Hunt is a FREE event for the kids in the area, and we'll be serving food and refreshments. The Easter Egg Hunt will start at 3:00 pm. While anyone is welcome to attend, even if they aren't booking a mini session, we do ask that you register for the event so we have an idea of how many kids to expect. All children MUST be accompanied by an adult. Registration for the Easter Egg Hunt is open until April 16, 2014.
The Spring Mini Sessions will begin at 4:00 pm. Mini sessions will be scheduled in 30 minute increments, with 20 minutes of camera time per session. The cost is $50.00, and you will receive 10 digital images with print release. The mini sessions will take place outdoors, so dress accordingly! Space is limited, so reserve your spot ASAP!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. We hope to see you there!
Earlier in February, we were invited to photograph Delta Elementary School's annual Father Daughter Dance. We thought it would be a fun and new experience - back in the 90's when we attended, the schools rarely organized anything like that! The dance was open to girls grades PreK-4, and each child that signed up would be photographed with their dad (or escort) and receive two 5x7 prints.
The initial count was around 40-60 girls. We had a two hour window, so there would be plenty of time to get the necessary shots and then get out on the dance floor for some candids. As the event approached, the count started going up.. 80, 100.. and by the day before the dance, we were looking at 140 girls to photograph (if you're doing the math, that's less than 1 minute for each student). So, figuring we had to get minimum 17-18 girls through every 15 minutes, we worked with the PTO to get things organized and assigned a time slot for each student, so they wouldn't spend the whole time standing in line for a picture.
It was a little chaotic in the beginning, but we got into a rhythm soon enough (finished 20 minutes early!), and were able to get some shots of the dance. The girls were so excited to spend the evening with their fathers, uncles, grandfathers, and you could tell they had a great time.
Special thanks to the Delta Elementary PTO - they did an amazing job of organizing the entire event and making sure things were running smoothly. The decorations for the Masquerade theme looked great too!
